8 August: SCULTHORPE BACK AS DRAGONS TRY TO MAKE UP LOST GROUND Paul Sculthorpe will return to the Dragons starting line-up this week after the Dragons team doctor gave him clearance to play. Its a big boost for the Shaun Edwards Cup Champions and as they look to get back to their best.
"Im really happy to get back into the starting side this week. I haven't been 100% since before the Edwards Cup final. The team stuck by me though and I'm thankful for that." said Sculthorpe.
News out of Wales however is not good for coach Shaun Edwards. It appears Edwards will be lucky to see out the week with the Dragons after a falling out with team management. Some within the organisation feel Edwards has not done enough with the side given to him, and they will likely replace him after this weeks round of matches.
Possible replacement for Edwards include John Lang, Chris Anderson and possibly Wayne Bennett.
In other news the Dragons are doing their very best to sell 5/8th Iestyn Harris to the WRU. One Dragons team official said "We are the biggest sporting team in Wales, yet we have an organisation who is short of cash offering us a massive amount of money for one player....its a steal on our behalf!".
The Dragons hope to sell Harris before the seasons end.
27 July: DRAGONS SLUMP COULD SEE COACHING CHANGE
Rumours out of Wales suggest Dragons coach Shaun Edwards job is under threat with the Dragons parent company (RRL) ready to bring in a high profile Australian coach to take over.
It is rumoured that the Dragons have approached Broncos coach Wayne Bennett in a deal which would make him one of the highest earners in the Rugby League world. While neither the Dragons or Broncos were willing to comment on the possible move, one Dragons insider told the EIRL Telegraph "If the Dragons lose a single game over the next few weeks Edwards is gone".
The Dragons are also looking at a number of trade options the teams has, including trading 5/8th Iestyn Harris. The Dragons are looking to get more depth into the club as they continue to struggle without Paul Sculthorpe and Terry O'Connor.
1 July: Welsh Dragons 4 Salford Blues 20 Things are slowly looking up for Salford and this amazing win over the Shaun Edwards Cup winners in front of a capacity 25,000 crowd at the Millennium Stadium is the highlight of their season so far. They decimated the Dragons below strength line up and ripped them apart with tries from Hudson, Sampson and Wainwright (2). Steve Blakeley kicked 2 from 5 for Salford while Darren Fleary scored the only try for the Dragons.
24 June: Congratulations to the Welsh Dragons who are the inaugural Shaun Edwards Cup winners after a hard fought 14-10 victory against Hull Giants in the Final at Old Trafford, Manchester.
17 June: The Dragons seemed to miss the injured Sculthorpe and O'Connor but eventually came out 14-10 victors over French Patriots to reach the Shaun Edwards Cup Final.
10 June: A major shock as the Dragons lose their first ever game but they have already qualified for the semi finals and will play the French Patriots next week.
3 June: The Dragons left it late and had to come from behind to continue their unbeaten run and secure a semi final place in the Shaun Edwards Cup.
27 May: The Dragons suffered a scare but still managed to overcome Division One Aberdeenshire in today's trial game, winning 38-20 after being 18-0 down after just 18 minutes. Tony Martin scored a hat-trick for the Welsh Dragons.
24 May: UNBEATEN DRAGONS FOCUS ON PRE-SEASON CUP
Having yet to lose a game in any EIRL competition so far this season, the Welsh Dragons have put themselves firmly up there are one of the Premiership favourites so far. So it came as some surprise when 1st division side the Aberdeenshire Animals challenged the Dragons to a one off game.
"It was a surprise to see a 1st division club challenging us like that. We've yet to lose a game and there would be few Premiership clubs that would challenge us at the moment, let alone a 1st division side." said Dragons captain Chris Joynt.
The Animals however will get their shot at the Dragons after this round of Pre Season competition. The Dragons have won their last two games by a combined 58-10 and will be a tough side to overcome.
"Right now I think we're ready to take on any team. The boys are playing well and we have brought the clubs together brilliantly over the last couple of months. Everything is looking really good for the Premiership this season." said Dragons coach Shaun Edwards.
In other Dragons news winger Olly Marns will take a slight shoulder injury into this week's game with the rest of the squad injury free.
20 May: The Welsh Dragons won yet again, this time hammering beleaguered Widnes 30-8 at the Millennium Stadium.
13 May: Against York Vikings who did not submit team orders the Dragons were always favourites and ran out 28-2 winners with tries from Marns, Briers, O'Connor and Hetherington while Harris kicked 6 goals.
7 May: In a change of opponent, the Dragons made it 3 out of 3 with a 28-8 win over Barcelona Celtic. 8-6 down at half time a superb second half performance saw them home with tries from Marns, Fleary and crowd favourites Lee Briers and Iestyn Harris who also kicked 6 goals from 7 attempts.
5 May: Welsh Dragons scraped home 16-12 in an enthralling trial game against Hull Giants with tries from Jamie Stenhouse, Olly Marns and Darren Fleary, the winning try coming just ten minutes from time.
4 May: Coach Chris Ryan has said he is happy with the pre-season trial line up and no further fixtures will be added.
2 May: Welsh Dragons have confirmed trial games against Hull Giants (5 May) and York Vikings (7 May)
28 April: Welsh Dragons have arranged a home friendly against Salford Blues for Thursday 3 May at Cardiff's Millennium Stadium.
