ROUND 7 PREVIEW

PREMIERSHIP

Boothstown Trojans v Widnes Kings Expect a hard fought game between two teams going well at the moment.  Widnes have some injury concerns whereas Boothstown have a full squad to select from.  This could be a very close game indeed.  Tip: Boothstown Trojans by 4 (sorry Jason)

French Patriots v Welsh Dragons The Dragons have hit a good run of form lately and are starting to look like Championship contenders at last.  The Patriots have been inconsistent of late and will want to cause a major upset.  Tip: Welsh Dragons by 20

Hull Giants v Stuttgart Hitmen * GAME OF THE WEEK * Stuttgart, somewhat surprisingly lead the table and have Assistant Coach Claire Gaunt in charge for this game as the Hitmen continue their charge.  They have a tough task against a Hull side who have come good of late and look serious title contenders.  Tip: Hull Giants by 12

Northern Bulls v Salford Blues The Bulls had a comprehensive win over the Vikings last week but come up against a Blues side still reeling from last weeks defeat against Hull.  They will want to get back into a play off place quickly but could well be without the injured Kohe-Love Tip: Salford Blues by 8

York Vikings v Wigan Nomads 10th v 9th again this week as two teams battling against relegation come face to face yet again.  York still have injury concerns and the Nomads have a strong team which could well see them through here. Tip: Wigan Nomads by 10

DIVISION ONE

Aberdeenshire Animals v RC Milan Milan started their season off well but have now lost their last four while Aberdeenshire seem to have strengthened their squad further.  The Animals struggled against Hervé last week but should easily overcome the Italians who will be hit by a form penalty should no orders be received.  Tip: Aberdeenshire Animals by 14

Amsterdam Admirals v Hervé Sorry Rob, but Amsterdam are utterly awful and it would be a major surprise if they won here.  They did have an improved performance in a trial against Hull in midweek but Hervé should be too strong for them.  Tip: Hervé by 18

Barcelona Celtic v Cumberland Falcons * GAME OF THE WEEK * Two teams bang on form meet this week in what should be a classic.  Barcelona still lead the table, but after a poor start, the Falcons are flying again.  Barcelona have some injury worries but I would expect them to sneak home.  Tip: Barcelona Celtic by 6

Belfast Warriors v Biarritz Ocelots XIII Both teams came into the season with high hopes this season but have found themselves in the bottom half of the table.  Expect a passionate game and Belfast to just about snatch a vital victory.  Tip: Belfast Warriors by 2

Saint-Maur Beavers v Rutland Raiders Rutland have been unstoppable since Chris Kay took over but have some major injury worries this week with Roy and Powell both unlikely to start.  The Beavers are still pushing up near the top of the table and a win here could consolidate that position.  Tip: Saint Maur Beavers by 10

GIANTS DEFEAT VALIANT ADMIRALS THEN LEAD COACHING SESSION

Hull Giants squeaked home against the Amsterdam Admirals last night by 8 points to 4. Following a magnificent after match ceremony hosted by the Admirals, many of the Hull players might have struggled to get out of their hotel beds this morning to attend a coaching clinic hastily arranged by the Giants management!  For more on this story, click here.

AMSTERDAM FALL AGAIN IN SPIRITED DISPLAY

Facing a strong Hull side in what was going to be a highly competitive friendly Amsterdam roared out of the blocks hoping to rock the Giants early on, receiving the ball straight from Henry Paul kick-off strong runs from Craig Makin and Andy Hobson showed frailties in the Hull defensive unit, only for Andy Heptinstall to carry on where he finished against Cumberland and knocked on at the play of the ball. GIANTS OVERPOWER TOUGH SALFORD SIDE

The Giants had said all week long that they would be prepared to let their rugby do their talking for them, and they did with a comfortable, if not comprehensive, victory at the Eastlands Stadium this weekend.  For more on this story, click here.

FALCONS GO TOP FIVE BY BLANKING ADMIRALS

The resurgent Cumberland Falcons moved into the top 5 this Sunday with an emphatic defensive performance over a struggling Amsterdam side at Falcon Park. Paul Sykes and Lee Harland got a brace of tries each and Graham Holroyd kicked 5 goals to leave Amsterdam adrift at the bottom of the table.  For more on this story, click here.

AMSTERDAM DESPERATION

Following another defeat at the weekend, Amsterdam Admirals playing and coaching team are becoming distraught at their lack of success over the season.  For more on this story, click here.

BIARRITZ SUCCUMB TO BARCELONA CHARGE

Straight from the kick off, it was almost a sure thing that Barcelona would win, but it would have been a whole different picture if the video ref. had been on form.  For the full story, click here.
