LATEST NEWS

26 July:
Belfast Warriors Coach Eoin Adams, in one of his first interviews since the start of the season, has shrugged off his teams indifferent start to the season, and claims the side have put their problems behind them.

"It was always going to be difficult, starting up in a country with practically no Rugby League History, but I do believe we are starting to turn the corner after our dismal Billy Boston Cup campaign. The League didn't start off to well with a defeat to Milan, but since then we have had 2 wins out of 3, the only defeat being a narrow unfortunate loss to the well fancied Animals. Over the last couple of weeks, I have settled on a style of play that is proving more succesful, and the promotion of Paul Cooke to captain worked so well against Amsterdam that I'm considerig giving him the position on a permanent basis..."

Mr Adams also mentioned a lineup of promotional events aimed at attracting the Belfast public to the Warriors games, including a kids open day before the St.Maur Beavers game on August 12, and the unveiling of the new mascott, Willy the Wolfhound, and the Wargirls cheerleading team. However when asked about the fortunes of the Warriors sister organisation, the Belfast Bulls of the IIRL, winless after 6 games, Mr Adams had no comment to make (apart from some muttering about bleedin' smartass journos...)

1 July:
RC Milan 14 Belfast Warriors 6
Proof if ever proof was needed that no team can be complacent in this tough division.  Milan had failed to win a game this season yet delighted their fans at the Marconi Stadium with tries from Dooley and Dorahy who added 3 goals.  An Ibbotson try and solitary Hughes goal were the only scores for Belfast in what must be a vital start for the Italians.

23 June:
Despite Adam Hughes scoring yet another try, Belfast failed to overcome Stuttgart in this hastily arranged trial, going down 32-12 in front of 5,383 fans at the Iestyn Harris Show Ground.

10 June:
Failure to beat the Falcons meant an early end to the Belfast campaign in the Billy Boston Cup.

3 June:
Belfast had this week off from Cup action and next week must hope that Biarritz lose and that they can overcome Cumberland in order to qualify.

27 May:
At last a chink of light for the Warriors as they shut out Amsterdam for an 18-0 win in the Billy Boston Cup and putting Amsterdam out of the competition.

20 May:
Things go from bad to worse for the Irish with a heavy 28-0 defeat against Aberdeenshire Animals.

13 May:
Despite the French opposition failing to name their team and being listed in alphabetical order, the Warriors were crushed 14-4 in a very disappointing performance.  Bramald (try) scored the only Belfast points.

10 May:
Belfast scored a good win over RC Milan in their final trial game but failed to score a try, instead 6 penalty goals from Hughes saw them through 12-6.

9 May:
Belfast have named an unchanged line up for tomorrows trial game against RC Milan despite an injury to Dennis Betts.

8 May:
Belfast upset the odds and pulled off an astonishing 18-12 win over Premiership Boothstown Trojans in their latest trial game with tries from Bramald and Walker and 5 goals from Hughes at the Cyber Dome.

5 May:
Belfast have arranged a further trial game and will receive Division One RC Milan on Thursday 10 May 2001.

4 May:
Belfast will travel to Boothstown for a trial match on 8 May.  Brewers of Guinness have said that all local bars to the Cyber Dome have increased their orders for the Irish contingent expected to travel.

28 April:
Belfast Coach Eoin Adams has remained relatively quiet today.
